St. Louis is full of exciting events this July! From art and music festivals to historical celebrations and family-friendly activities, there's something for everyone. Here are 10 events you won’t want to miss in St. Louis this month.
All Wednesdays in July: Botanical Garden
The open-air Whitaker Music Festival presents free Wednesday evening concerts under the stars every summer. To date, more than one million people have participated in this cherished St. Louis summer tradition.
July 4: Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum
Declared “impractical” and “impossible,” St. Louis’ Eads Bridge still stands after 150 years. The best part? It’s used daily! Head to Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum on the Fourth of July for a special two-hour trolley tour about chief engineer James Buchanan Eads, his bridge and others who made it a reality.
July 4: The Gateway Arch
Marching through the streets of downtown St. Louis in the shadow of the nation’s tallest monument, the Gateway Arch, America’s Birthday Parade features elaborate floats, choreographed dances and live performances by marching bands. The signature summer event is a celebration of our people, our community, our city and our country – from sea to shining sea.
July 10: Chain of Rocks Park
Enjoy free snow cones as you watch the sun set over the Mississippi River at the newly opened Chain of Rocks Park. Part of the Mississippi Greenway, the park features local artwork by Simiya Sudduth that highlights the Mississippi Flyway migratory route and the Chain of Rocks geology; a 1.5-acre reconstructed prairie with unpaved footpaths; and restored wetlands and woodlands that provide food and shelter for native wildlife.
July 12: Maplewood
A celebration of the arts and a whimsical tribute to Bastille Day, Let Them Eat Art is the perfect place to go this July. As you stroll through the streets and shops of the historic downtown, enjoy the sights and sounds of the annual festival, presenting live demonstrations, performances by regional musicians, and food and drinks
July 12 & 19: St. Louis Art Museum
This July, the Saint Louis Art Museum’s front yard – known locally as Art Hill – will transform into the city’s biggest cinema. During the Art Hill Film Series, catch Back to the Future (July 12) and Meet Me in St. Louis (July 19) in this idyllic setting. Before the show begins at 9 p.m., enjoy live music, food trucks and a cash bar.
July 19: Delmar Maker District
On July 19th, walk Delmar Boulevard to experience Makers Market at MADE Makerspace featuring local artists and hand-crafted products, The Magic House MADE for Kids Free admission, The Third-Degree Glass Factory’s Demonstrations, and dining at one of Delmar Makers District’s delicious restaurants!
July 19-25: The Muny
Often considered one of the top five greatest musicals ever, Fiddler on the Roof returns to The Muny for its 11th production. Fiddler on the Roof has one of the most illustrious scores ever written for Broadway, and this is your chance to hear it in one of the most iconic theaters in the country.
July 20: Downtown Kirkwood
Activities will be bountiful during the Downtown Kirkwood Sidewalk Sale and Kirkwood Farmers’ Market Peach Festival on Saturday, July 20. Visitors to Downtown Kirkwood will enjoy peach-related treats and menu items at Kirkwood Farmers’ Market.
July 28: Forest Park
Enjoy unlimited tastings from local ice cream vendors, family activities with Craft Alliance and the Magic House, face painting, a drum circle, a bubble booth, an obstacle course, and many other fun activities at the World’s Fair Pavilion.
